Conservatives, why are you against Universal Basic Income? Who doesn't like free money!?

  • The money isn't "free", moron. It's stolen from the people who EARN it. What do you have against requiring people to do something constructive to EARN what they want? I never hear anyone say anything about "Universal Basic EARNING" except me.

  • I once read a question on this forum by a young female who was pleading for universal basic income, to the tune of $2,000/month for all US residents. Wouldn't that be great?
But how much could you buy with your $2,000 each month? Maybe one loaf of bread, or one gallon of gasoline? For $2,000? Because if everyone is getting "free money", then nobody would get up and go to work every morning, and nobody would plant and harvest the wheat, nor mine the Iron ore and coal, nor pump and refine the crude oil, etc. etc.
Nothing much would get done, would it?

  • Umm. It might be free to you but someone has to earn the money that the government uses. And why should someone get paid for not working and others work but not get paid?

  • BC it would come out of the taxpayers pocket.
