You could clone your car off another car you happen to see with  same colour and model just copy the number plates.  This will save road tax and MOT issuers too.

  • Sell your UK-registered car in NI, walk/bus/train/lift/taxi across the border, buy another car in ROI.

Depending on the value of your car and the ROI replacement, this may well work out slightly cheaper.

You need to do your sums carefully.

  • Yup, buy a car in Ireland. Sell the other car. Or you can have a rocket launcher and machine guns mounted on you car (turn it into a Bond car) and any time someone tries to make you toe the line, let them have it. Ha-Ha!

  • You are SOL.  And that French wine will be more expensive soon.  But there will be a bridge from Scotland to NI soon.  Good luck.

  • that is what happens when yo become a separate country.  Then buy a second car that only stays in the Irish republic.  That will just cost you more.
