Grabbing and holding metal parts, often round things. My auto shop teacher had a very strict rule; never use pliers on a nut and he would fail any student caught doing that.

  • To hold a part. To turn a part.  To pull a part.  To twist a part.  To push on a part.  To open a bottle cap.  A small hammer.  Something to throw away when you put 6 quarts of expensive oil on the engine and forgot to reinstall the drain plug.
