How much does a trucker make an hour ?

  • Best Answer

Most over the road drivers are paid by the mile. The rate depends on the company and the driver's experience. A lot of OTR companies post their starting rates on the back of their trailers with the recruiting ad. City or short haul drivers usually make between $15 and $30 dollars per hour.

If you own your won truck, you will be paid considerably more because you're paying all the expenses for the truck and your own wage plus all of the taxes.

  • The get paid per mile. I see .50$ a mile a lot. Going 60 mph that's 30$ an hour. I've heard of some making as low as 20-30k a year and as high as 200k a year.

Those that own their own trucking business make more.

Depends on exactly what you are doing.

  • Not hour, mile. Whether you cover 600 miles per day or only 100, you get paid by the mile. New truckers earn twenty-eight cents per mile, when the ads say "up to" whatever per mile, that is for experienced , long haul drivers.

  • I can't drive a Truck because my sinuses bother me, and that's more difficult then a car I felt more comfortable drivng before 5/2001.Dont everyone run out to help me too fast. Remember a car mic with Michelle and Ray up to Binghamton? I know this coupled with allergies is far too complex for the average federal agent to grasp.

  • Good from what I have heard. I was playing Call Of Duty with a dude at a Truck Stop and he says he makes very good money but he has 14 hours to drive an 11 hour distance. So you can take breaks in between but you just need to make it to your destination in 14 hours
