Danish PM Rasmussen told Bernie Sanders to quit calling Denmark a Socialist nation. Why would he do that?

He said "We are not Socialists. We are a market economy."

  • Best Answer

What Sanders is proposing isn't what they have in Denmark or Norway, it's more like what they have in Venezuela or Zimbabwe.

  • Nearly every country has some elements of socialism (with the exception of a few failed countries like Somalia or North Korea ) , but that alone does not define a country as being socialist.

  • Socialism failed in Scandinavia. And it failed bigly and ugly, too.

The Scandinavians are dramatically smarter than Brooklyn Boy, so they wised-up and retooled their economies into something more appropriate for today's modern world.

  • Democratic Socialism requires a market economy which is regulated to the extent necessary to ensure the wealth created by capitalism primarily benefits the middle class instead of the rich.

  • Bernie is an idiot for calling *himself* a socialist. What he wants is a social democracy.
