I am planning to buy a new car in 2020. How do I make sure it’s a good investment?

Check the car fax, look under the hood, check the odometer (nothing over 100k miles), and take care of it regularly.

  • Take care of it! Do oil changes, transmission flushes when the owners manual recommends! Change all of your filters as recommended!

  • That is an oxymoron; new automobiles are NOT investments.

  • Honda or Toyota are a great choice to make.

  • I bought a Toyota for $23,000+ 10 years ago. It had only 20,000 kilometres on the speedo, yet I could only get $3,000 for it when I sold it recently. I always thought low mileage would be a benefit, but not so . .

  • By the word "investment" I have to assume your mean you want a car that will be dependable and have a relatively low rate of depreciation. In that case, I suggest you consider Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Porsche, or Subaru. Since you didn't provide more details, that's about as specific as I can get.

  • It is not an investment. It is a tool for getting from place to place. Almost without exception, the values of vehicles drop as soon as they are driven off the lot.
