Does having a heat pump cause an electric bill to be more or less expensive? Or is it about the same as with central heat and air?
Best answer: A heat pump has a range of temperatures for which is reduces heating costs when compared to electric heat alone. Below that temperature it is not thermally efficient and costs more to operate. That is one they have a switch in the system to operate "conventionally".
I have seen various numbers on when to operate the heat pump. I think the most common number is about 20 degrees F. If the weather is at or below that temperature a heat pump is not thermally effecent. It can not get enough heat out of the air to warm the air in the house. -
Mold keeps growing in well ventilated bathroom?
Just a little spot lik 10×4. The mold looks like little pin pricks. I scrubbed it away about a month ago, and it's back. I moved into this house a little over a year ago, and its growing on the remnants of old wallpaper that was ripped off. I keep the window open, and cieling fan on after I take showers, so why would mold grow? Especially just in that one spot. -
How to fish ziplock bag out of toilet.?
Best answer: How do you know it didn't go down all the way? A snake is the only option I can think of, if you're lucky the snake will catch the bag vs push it through. If it catches it, it will likely poke a hole in the bag, assume you're okay with that?
Or, you could take the toilet off the floor. -
Who is more dishonest, plumbers, electricians or HVAC guys?
Best answer: It's not the trade that leads to being dishonest. It's either in the person to be honest or not. That's why it's always a good idea to get multiple estimates on any job. And once you find a tradesman you can trust, stick with them. -
How do I get rid of rats in my attack?
Best answer: The only non-toxic non-violent way would be to trap them in a trap that does not kill them and then release them elsewhere. That would be almost impossible. My advice is to buy some rat traps, bait them, put them in your attic, and kill the pests. -
I live in the north and keep my furnace at 12 centigrade. I never change it. Should I alternate the temperature for the health of furnace?

I left an unused teabag in a shirt pocket that I sent through the wash. Will that affect how the laundry comes out?
Best answer: If the tea bag remains in the pocket, it is likely there will be some staining in that area, along with whatever clothing is up against that pocket after the wash load is finished if not removed promptly.
I doubt one tea bag will stain the whole load of laundry because there is a helluva lot more water in a washing machine basin than in a cup of tea, so that tea in the washer will be ultra diluted and I doubt it will effect the load.
I have tea stained fabric and it takes A LOT of tea bags to accomplish that task, with far less water. -
How can I put an L shape shower rail up without having to drill into walls?
We’ve just moved into a property with a wet room. We need to put a shower curtain up but we can’t drill into the tiles. Any solution to this would be great! I’ve even been looking for rails that have suction ends to mount on the wall but I don’t think it’s a thing! -
Dishwasher won’t run a cycle, and has 2 inches of very dirty water inside. Advice?
We’ve never used the dishwasher since moving in 2 years ago. Finally decided to use it and now we notice this. It’s a small Electrolux. We’ve tried all the settings/ cycle options. Nothing. It’s turned on at the wall, so there is power. Does a blockage prevent running a cycle maybe? -
Is this neighbour nosey or just looking out for her neighbours?
Any time my friend comes out of his house to go somewhere, his neighbour nearly always sees everything he's doing. She asked him what he had for his dinner and who done the cooking. Quite a few of her neighbours keep her at a distance as they feel she is extremely nosey. One neighbour even nicknamed her "The Neighbour Hood Watch" because she is known to see everything going on regardless what time of day or night it is. If you had a neighbour like this how would be the best way to deal with her? -
My necklace charm smells like mildew.?
The charm is mostly consisted of sapphires and diamonds, with a gold backing. It keeps smelling like mildew. I just cleaned it with jewelry cleaner the other night. I have tried dawn before with temporary results. I hate that I have to keep taking my necklace off because of the smell. What can I use to rid it? I'm afraid to do vinegar as I don't want to erode the gems. -
I hear a loud boom then power goes out?
So this just started happening today. I was minding my own business watching Netflix upstairs and my other family members were downstairs also using a console. All of a sudden, we hear a loud boom and the power goes out to some electrical sockets( not all) so that both consoles turn off but my computer doesn't and the lights flicker for a second then everything is back on again. A few minutes later, no more than 30 minutes, it happens again except the boom is quieter. Then a third time, it happens and this time the boom sounds less intense and like hitting the inside of a large plastic paint can. Then It happened again a fourth time and we don't know exactly what's going on. Each time it happens, it only flickers and everything comes back on right after. This sounds like it's coming from our backyard but our power box is on the side of the house toward the front. There isn't a storm going out right now, there's no rain and minimal wind. Last week there was a storm but nothing too big. We're not sure if someone is causing this or if something is faulty. -

My microwave oven!!!?
So this morning, I went to the kitchen to heat up my breakfast in our Frigidaire stainless steel microwave, I was able to, but it was early, and I didnt want to make a lot of noise. SO right before the time ended (1 second left) I opened the door. I got my food out, and when i went to close it, everything was off, the lightbulb inside, the little dial that shows the numbers, and none of the buttons would work! I tried every button, nothing. close it and opened it, nothing. And the microwave isnt so old, not even 4 years! My parents might think i broke it, and maybe I did, but i need to make sure, all I did was open the door! It was raining heavy outside, but it wasnt because the power went out because everything else was still on except the microwave! anyone who may know how to help the situation or fix this, please, help!!! -

Could any trees, bushes, plants or flowers grow in Antarctica if planted?
Best answer: Unfortunately it is too frigid for plant life to thrive there. If it were to warm up, then it would definitely be possible.
Underneath the kilometers of ice, is a vast ancient jungle, so we know things grew there thousands of years ago. -
