  • Question about DVD Player in a Laptop running Windows 10?

Best answer: AFAIK it is Windows Media player. Yeah, I just checked it is Windows Media Player or MP4 files. I use VLC because Windows refuses to play some DVD due to copywrite protection thingy, EVEN IF YOU BOUGHT THE DISK and therefore paid the royalties...it still refuses.
. VLC does not get hampered by that, it is a free download and you just use it to play anything...music or videos . It works without a hitch.

  • What's wrong with my PC?

Motherboard - A88XM-A CPU - AMD Athlon x4 845 (upgraded from A6 6400K) GPU - Radeon RX 580 (originally no graphics card then upgraded from R7 360) 16GB RAM ( 2 x 4GB 1600 Mhz + added 8GB 1867Mhz) 500W power supply BIOS 3001 So the computer works but over a long period will (I think) overheat, crash and show an error page then just freeze, if I turn it back on it works fine, it gets warm on top before it crashes this is why I think it's overheating. Is there any way to find out which component is causing the problem? This is the first time I've tried upgrading a PC, I think what's happened is essentially I'm running my (quite dated) motherboard with the most advanced components that it is compatible with, and it can't quite handle it. I considered my power supply may be too low but that doesn't seem to be where the heat is coming from. The top centre of the pc gets warm, so I can only assume the heat is rising from something below. I have only noticed this happen when I play one certain game, but can't disprove other games may cause the issue. Thanks

  • I have 8 GB of ram why does it say only 6.9GB is usable?

Best answer: Because the Operating System uses some of the RAM so it only displays what's available for you, the user to use. You can see the exact RAM memory by using CCleaner or CPU Z or other similar products.

  • Can someone snoop on my laptop without the passcode?

I’ve sent my laptop away with someone for them to replace my hard drive / have a look at it. Although I haven’t told them my passcode, I’ve got a lot of private stuff on it so I’m worried they’ll be able to get in and have a look at it all. Is this possible? It’s really worrying me

  • Tv as a computer monitor?

I’ve had an emerson 32 inch tv but i literally never use it. we don’t even have cable because we don’t watch tv. it’s practically brand new. i want to get into the pc gaming world and i figured “why don’t i just use my tv as a monitor??” because my best friend plays on a 55 inch. it’s amazing and it works perfect for him. i was wondering if my tv would work for this as well. i plan on buying a gaming pc, and i know there are certain things you need to play certain games. i plan on playing apex legends, sims, fortnite, things like that. will it freeze and lag all the time? will it be blurry? or is it just crucial on what pc i buy? please keep rude comments to yourself. i know NOTHING of the gaming world.

  • HP Laserjet 4050n sometimes prints fine, sometimes prints gibberish. Help?

It is an old printer. I'm using it with a Windows 10 machine. There is no USB port on it, so I've got a USB to parallel port cable hooked up to it. When firing up the computer with the printer active, it is automatically found and installs the PCL 5 driver for it. And like I said, sometimes it prints perfectly, sometimes gibberish. Sometimes it will print fine in sections, and big black random shapes in others. Suggestions on how to fix?

  • Minecraft is killing my pc!?

Best answer: MC is very CPU intensive, creating a lot of heat from the CPU. Sounds like either your laptop cooling is clogged or the cooling fan is seized up. Other possibility is you are blocking the air intakes by placing the laptop on a soft surface, like your lap.
Other possibility is the heat has damaged other components like the HDD. A failing HDD will lock up the system and cause a crash in many cases....

  • Will this make a good backup pc?

Got and old pc from work after we upgraded everything, not sure what to do with it. Dell optiplex 790 Intel Core i3-2100 3.10GHz; 4Gb DDR3 Installed; Hard Drive: 250GB 3.5" SATA It has win 7 professional with office installed. This particular pc also has a radeon 5450 graphics card so I can use on full hd displays. It has a dvi to vga adapter but no hdmi. It has 10 usb slots.... No wifi but a spare pci slot so I can add on to it. This was a work pc which was not used much at all. Not sure what to do with it, it seems sufficient as a backup, for emails and watching movies maybe to put in a guest room or I can probably sell it for 100usd or so.
